For an example refering to the chart above a person with a chest measurement of 40" and hip 45" size L would be the correct size. This will give this person about 8" extra room for the chest area and 10" extra room for the hip area to easily fit and move around in. If you want a looser fit size L will also fit but with more room and freedom.
